Having our wedding at the Walters was the best decision we made for our wedding. The scenery, ambiance and art made such a huge difference for all of our photos and it provided such a warm environment for our guests. The guests loved that they could explore the galleries during the cocktail hour/reception and all of the displayed sculptures and artwork provided such excellent decoration. It was just SO pretty! Additionally, the Walters & catering staff were so helpful and very on top of the event the whole time. As the bride, I did not stress out at all during the wedding ceremony & reception because the Walters coordinator & catering coordinator had it covered! It was a pleasure working with them. They get a 5/5 stars for all categories because they truly were amazing to work with. It was the best day of our lives!

Pricey, but worth the cost. The beautiful space speaks for itself when you see it. We had both our ceremony and reception here. Heather Poff, the rental manager, was amazing. She stepped in to be a coordinator the day of and helped us walk our paces through rehearsal. She really acted like a wedding planner and made sure everything went smoothly, and I can't thank her enough for that after our wedding planner bailed on us. She is very personable and down to earth, and stuck to the rules of the museum. Biggest rule some might not like is the no red liquids, but we didn't care about having red wine and our guests enjoyed everything else we provided. Heather really made us feel at ease and we were truly thankful that she was there. Working with someone who is friendly and accommodating can make all the...

We had both the ceremony and the reception at the Walters Art Museum. The ceremony was in front of a beautiful medieval altar piece and the guests perused the Medieval Gallery during the cocktail hour. It was a privilege to have the wedding among these priceless work of art. Dinner and dancing were in the magnificent classical Sculpture Court. We had soft tinted lighting but kept decorations to a minimum. How could anything be more elegant than the art itself? It was really magical. Many of our guests were from Europe and were amazed to find such a magnificent art collection in Baltimore. The staff were very professional and protective of the art works but also very kind and helpful. Mr. Zimmerman, who is in charge of the use of the museum for private parties, is very knowledgable and has much good advice about how to make the best use of the beautiful space.

We LOVED the Walters. My original feeling was that it was a bit pricey to rent the space, when everything from chairs to plates needed to be brought in. In addition, the column lighting needed to be rented, (but really added a lot to the feel). However, they ARE a free museum AND your guests have the added bonus of browsing the same-floor galleries during both the cocktail hour and reception, which added elegance. Also museum guards stay with the gift table. Note: red wines and sauces are not allowed.

The Walter’s Art Museum pretty much speaks for itself; it is an amazing and elegant venue. I had my cocktail hour and reception there in November 2011. My guests were able to go through the galleries throughout the reception. Everything was just beautiful. Heather Poff was absolutely delightful to work with. She made sure that we were well informed on all the rules and regulation of the museum. She had no problems working with my planner, Kelley of Kelley Cannon Events. The night of my wedding she was there to liaison with the museum staff and Kelley. The Walter’s is an amazing venue for a wedding, yes it is pricey however for the full access to the museum it is worth every penny.

The Walters Art Museum was exactly what we dreamed it would be. It was beautiful and unique and our guests were thoroughly entertained with the exhibits that were open during the cocktail hour. The space was more than adequate and comes predecorated of course! Robert Zimmerman was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was fun and friendly and still very professional. He was not very flexible with the rules (no runner, no red wines, etc.) but that was to be expected for this type of venue and did not effect the wedding overall in the least. I will suggest to any couple considering the Walters, wear cotton or other breathable light material. The Walters needs to keep the museum at a certain temperature and humidity level for preservation purposes, and was not able to turn the ac higher when it got a little warm later that night, for the same reason. Again, this did not really effect any opinion about the Walters being a sincerely wonderful venue. x - Amanda Tisler

We were looking for the perfect venue for our wedding and reception, and The Walters Art Museum was just that. Many of our guests commented about how beautiful the location is, and enjoyed visiting some of the exhibits that were kept open during the cocktail hour and reception. Overall, we were extremely pleased with how the entire day went. We dealt extensively with Robert Zimmerman, the rental manager at the museum. He was very helpful during the entire planning process. He went out of his way to accommodate us and arranged for us to take photos in areas of the museum that were closed. The museum has specific regulations that need to be kept in mind (ie, no red wine is permitted), but our guests didn't even notice.

I never thought I would have a dream wedding in a beautiful museum venue but that's exactly what happened at the Walters! My cousin had her wedding there a few years before and I loved it back then too. Our guests, mostly from NYC and out of town, loved the venue and the open galleries on both sides of the Sculpture Court. It is really a spectacular venue. What makes having a wedding there even more amazing is the Rental Coordinator, Heather Poff. She is amazing. Not only is she fun, cheery and enthusiastic, she is also really helpful and accommodating about everything. She was there on the night of the wedding and it was really a great feeling to be able to touch base with her here and there and to guage how everything was going. She always has a smile on her face and she will go to bat for you for anything you need. We really really enjoyed working with Heather. She made a stressful night so much less stressful. She made the entire night that much more relaxing and fun. We LOVE Heather. There are some strict rules about the Museum, mainly no RED foods or drinks. That means no red wine, no cranberry juice. There are some strict rules about the speakers and the placement of the speakers and there is also some rules about height of candles etc. It's a Museum with white marble floors so these rules are understandable but they do have specific restrictions. Luckily our other vendors have worked there so we didn't have any issues.

We just got married at the Walters on May 5, 2012. It was such an incredible experience working with Heather Poff and we are so happy that we chose this venue. Our guests raved about the museum the entire night and we are still getting compliments. The only down side would be that the museum is extremely strict and can be a bit of a pain at times to deal with. Regardless, it is worth dealing with their rules to be able to have your wedding at this amazing venue. We toured so many venues in the Baltimore area and the Walters is BY FAR the most elegant and unique venue in the area.

Everything was perfect the most beautiful place imaginable to get married. Two downfalls, music cant be to loud because of some of the glass in the building and no red wine because of the beautiful white marble floors!

The Walters is a gorgeous venue for a wedding reception. Our guests were simply "wow-ed". As with any art museum, the "rules" are pretty strict - that was pretty much our only "negative" .

The Walters was our first choice for the wedding venue. It is one of the most beautiful venues in the Baltimore area. Requires little to no decorating because of the art work and how it's set up. The rental manager can be a bit of a challenge to deal with at times, however, he was very kind and helpful the closer it got to the wedding date. My guests loved the event, and I'm very happy we decided to hold our wedding here.

The Walters was our first choice for a wedding site because it is such a beautiful location. The neighborhood surrounding it cannot be beat for Baltimore charm. There is almost no decorating to be done as the Sculpture Garden where the majority of the wedding (minus the cocktail hour) takes place is magnificent. My husband and I have only the best things to say about this venue...Our contact at the Walters, the face and representative of the museum for those throwing events however is as awful a character as you can encounter while planning a wedding. He double booked our date and at the beginning of our relationship was very unresponsive. If that were it, i would overlook his lack of people skills. However he proceeded to tell us in no uncertain terms that he had concerns for the amount of drinking that would go on at our wedding because our families are Russian. After serious conversations with this manager's boss we received an apology. Afterwards we tried to turn a new leaf and i truly thought we established a nice professional rapport. However this manager never once smiled at our wedding, barked orders at myself and my family when we were walking in for our ceremony and was an overall unpleasant element of the wedding day. The Walters does have an extraordinary amount of rules (sound restrictions, no red liquids, etc), but we thought they were all worth adjusting to. What no couple should have to put up with is rude and exceptionally unprofessional customer service - especially for the price you are paying.
