Herrington on the Bay

This place was wonderful had no issues whatsoever. They were understanding and allowed me to order and customize many things off of their menu - even down to the dessert bar. I got married on New Year's Eve there and they offered a great discount and even provided the noise makers and champagne toast. It is a wonderful venue for a wedding any time of year.

Wow, where do I start. Herrington is AMAZING. We booked them for our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony and reception. We had our rehearsal in the Historic Yacht Club, we were married at the Polynesian Bridal Lawn and we had our reception in the Paradise Ballroom, so we experienced all Herrington has to offer.We booked Herrington because the wedding and rehearsal site is the most beautiful we saw anywhere. The landscaping is simply amazing and we love the waterfall entrance and lighting in the ballroom. After falling in love with the location and booking the venue, we later learned that Herrington provides the most excellent customer service we have ever experienced anywhere. Michael, our event designer, instantly responded to every email and phone call, gave us great advice, ensured other vendors were providing us excellent service, dealt with our oddly split invoices and helped me relax when I was going into "Bridezilla" mode. We absolutely loved meeting and working with him. Lexy, our rehearsal dinner event coordinator, also did a great job. Our rehearsal dinner was absolutely perfect. The setup was exactly like we requested and everyone was raving about how good the Greek dinner was. Also, the bartender was awesome, he was extremely attentive and very personable. Brittany, our ceremony and reception event coordinator, ensured the vendors did what they were supposed to and everything ran smoothly. We were so happy with the ceremony setup and everything about the reception site was perfect. The linens looked amazing, the layout was perfect and the servers were excellent. All the food came out in a timely fashion and VIP server did a great job of getting us food and drinks immediately following the ceremony. During the reception, the servers ensured I was never without a drink and even put some additional appetizers on our table so we didn’t miss out on them. The chefs were simply amazing with how they handled our guests allergies and special menu requests. If only I had another huge party I needed to throw so I could work with them again!

They were amazing through out!! Excellent people to work with. The food was fantastic. Everyone loved it!! The set-up was great and looked very professional. I had no worries. They kept us on track and were very friendly. I would highly recommend this location.

This venue and staff were amazing! The provided coordinators were extremely organized and efficient with assisting you with all of your day of needs. The food was great and the bridal garden looked fantastic!

Herrington helped ensure our day was the best it could be. There is not a single thing I would change about our wedding. They were always helpful especially with all the emails I sent in the last few weeks.When I started my search for a venue, I looked at 4 places and this was the only one I wanted. Took my now husband back the next day and we booked on the spot. And that was the best decision we made!!

We used Herrington on the Bay for our ceremony and reception, and it was beautiful. Herrington is just an hour out of D.C., but feels much farther away. As a Floridian, I was so pleasantly surprised to see such a beautiful, tropical waterfront site in Marlyand. We worked with Michael and Krissy who were both extremely professional and on the ball. We booked the venue about a year in advance, and had great communication with everyone at Herrington leading up to the wedding. They offer a reception to showcase local vendors (who are great), which helped us a lot. Leading up until the wedding, we felt very confident that Krissy and the Herrington staff wouldn't miss a beat. We were right. On the day of our outdoor ceremony, we faced an extremely threatening sky. Krissy knew how badly we wanted to have an outdoor ceremony, so got us started a few minutes early, and expertly got everyone in the tent once it started rain during cocktail hour. They were able to adjust the schedule on the fly and make our day wonderful. The food and catering itself was great. We received many compliments from our guests on the beauty of the setting and professionalism of the staff. We were so happy with Herrington-- we can't wait to visit on our anniversary.

We just got married at Herrington and it was a dream come true! If you are looking for a destination wedding with the comfort of being close to home we would highly recommend this venue! The venue was beautiful and we lucked out on perfect weather! Everything ran smoothly which allowed everyone to just have fun. The vendors worked well with each other (Brian from Crow Entertainment was making sure the guests kept moving and grooving, Sweet Sue made the beautiful and delicous cake, Lily Barrett did a beautiful job with the flower arrangements, and Hope McNew the officiant lead a touching ceremony). Brittany and Janice worked all year long to make sure the day was everything I dreamed and more. The guests had so much fun and we continue to get compliments on the gorgeous venue and the good food! We're so glad our google search lead us to Herrington and would recommend this venue for anyone getting married!

We had an amazing experience with Herrington on the Bay. We worked with Stacey and Lexy and both were extremely responsive, sometimes even within minutes of sending an email! From the very beginning, everyone has gone above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for the big day. It could not have gone more smoothly the day of, and our guests raved about the gorgeous view and the delicious food. Some who recently got married told us they wished they had found this place rather than their own venue! We couldn't have asked for a better venue or group of people to work with. Thanks Herrington!! We would highly recommend them!

I loved Herrington on the Bay. We looked at so many wedding venues and there is truly no other wedding venue that compared! It gives you a destination wedding feel and you forget your in the state of Maryland. We got married last September and the weather was perfect for our outside wedding. The staff are amazing and especially Brittany who made my wedding weekend unforgettable!!

We were very happy with Herrington on the Bay. From the moment we first arrived, we were amazed by how beautiful and perfect the setting was. We were able to sit down and work out a very reasonable deal so that we could afford to have our wedding here. We had our ceremony at the Polynesian Bridal Lawn and our reception in the Paradise Ballroom. The landscape was so beautiful that we barely needed any flowers to decorate with. We had several meetings with the staff and were able to work out details about the menu and any other questions we had. We were assigned a wedding coordinator who helped us work out all the final details before the wedding. By the time we showed up for the wedding, we had no worries or concerns about anything because we felt so confident in their services. The staff was very helpful prior to the ceremony and during the reception. Everything ran very smoothly. We could not have been happier about how everything worked out. Herrington on the Bay is wonderful because they have a friendly and helpful staff and a beautiful location for weddings.

This was by far the best choice to have our wedding! When my husband and I walked on the bridal lawn, I knew right then and there that this was the place where I wanted to get married. My husband loved it too! Our wedding theme was beachy, light and airy, so this was the perfect spot. The view of the water is beautiful and the landscaping added a nice touch. Our wedding planner, Katie was so much fun to work with. She gave us great ideas and was always around either by phone or email to answer and questions we had. The food was delicious and the tent was beautiful. I also liked how everything was in one spot. We said our vows, took a few steps and there was the party! I wish I could relive our wedding day....it was perfect!

In a few words....Gorgeous Grounds and Facilities, Excellent Customer Service, Excellent Food, Affordable Prices! The service we received from all of the staff at Herrington on the Bay was above 5 star! We had initially thought we would do a destination wedding somewhere tropical, but then decided we would rather have all of our family there on our wedding day. When I found Herrington on the Bay, through a google search for MD waterfront weddings, I was so excited because it seemed like it would give a tropical destination feel, but was only an hour away. The pictures on their website are so gorgeous, I hoped it looked as good in person. When we went for an initial meeting, I couldn't believe that the site was even more gorgeous than the website pictures. It's like a tropical getaway in MD. I had previously visited Chesapeake Beach Resort (which I wasn't too impressed with), without even knowing about Herrington, which I later found out is only a few minute drive away. The wedding coordinator, Beth that we met with was very friendly and knowledgeable about Herrington. She helped us plan a tentative menu on our first meeting, and helped us with ways to make our day more affordable. We were married on Memorial Day Monday 2010, with the 5pm ceremony outside on the Herring Bay Bridal Garden, and 6-10pm reception inside the Historic Yacht Club. We were fortunate enough to perfect weather! A really great thing about Herrington, is that they have these welcome receptions where you can go and meet all of the vendors that are familiar with Herrington. We found our DJ..Crow Entertainment, florist.. Lillie Barrett, and cake lady... Sweet Sue's (who were all awesome) all in one day at a welcome reception. We were assigned a wedding event planner, Brittany, who was awesome and helped us continue to plan out the details of our wedding and was there on the day of the wedding to help everything flow smoothly. This was a huge help, and not at an additional cost. The Yacht club was very classy, and spacious with 2 levels. We had the cocktial hour downstairs, dinner upstairs, and then dancing downstairs. The food was delicous. There was food to sample at the welcome recpetion, but we also went for a private tasting to choose are main dishes. Very glad we did this, it was a fun experience and helped us finalize our menu. We served Filet Mignon, Bob Marley Jamaican chicken, Herrington salad, green beans almondine, and roasted red potatoes. I had read a few reviews that the food at Herrington was not the greatest...but we recieved lots of compliments from our guests about the food and we loved it! We met with the chef, Mike, at the tasting, who was the chef the day of our wedding. They made everything exactly the way we had requested. He even gave my husband and I a special treat of chocolate covered strawberries and champagne to take with us. Beth and Brittany were extremely helpful throughout the planning process and always answered my emails right away. They were flexible even in adding a few guests a few days before the wedding. I would suggest to any couple planning a wedding at Herrington to book a room at the Herrrington Inn. My parenst booked the Dry Tortuga Suite..It was great to have a place to get ready that was just a few feet away from the ceremony site. (A little side note about Chesapeake beach Resort....My husband and I stayed in one of their Honeymoon suites, which gave the guys a close by place to hang out before the wedding. The room was nice, but expensive, and the front desk staff would not let my husband check in to the room the day of the event because his name was not on the credit card..even though I paid for the room in full 3 months prior and his name was on our wedding room block.. My father-in law paid for the room again in order to get him in, which we didn't find out about until a week later). Thanks to all of the Herrington Staff for Making our Wedding Day Absolutely Perfect! I would highly recommend Herrington to any couple looking for a gorgeous, friendly, affordable wedding venue in Maryland.

They took us through every detail of the wedding ceremony and reception to ensure we had a say in every choice possible. They promptly returned emails and phone calls and sent us intermittent cards and updates via mail to ensure we were keeping up with our wedding timeline. All the way through our wedding, they ensured that we did not have to worry about the details because they were all taken care of. Each time we met with staff to go over wedding items, the chefs would prepare special treats for us to have at the meeting and to take home with us - it is these types of extra special touches that really make Herrington's staff and customer service shine.They were also very willing to work with us on our budget to get us what we wanted at a price we could generally afford. They told us what was important to include in our ceremony and reception and what was not really necessary.The site itself was absolutely breathtaking, and Herrington told us when all of the palm trees and flowers were going to be planted when we booked our wedding date, and they were accurate. So, we were able to enjoy the beautiful foliage that we saw when we first visited the site on our wedding day.The staff on our wedding day were prompt, professional and kind. All of our guests commented on how helpful and prepared the staff was and how every element of the reception went perfectly with their help. In addition, all of our guests commented on how good the food was, especially the appetizers. This is something we hear very often - how great the food is at Herrington - and it held true at our wedding. Afterwards, the staff organized all of our items on one table, so it was easy for our families to know what to take with them.Overall, Herrington on the Bay is the most beautiful outdoor location we saw in Maryland for a wedding, and the staff was the best we met - consummate professionals with great personalities.

This venue was MORE than helpful. They accommodated every request, without any fuss. I was much unprepared for a lot of things because I planned my wedding within a few months, and Beth and Brittany were so helpful with suggestions and got the job done. All of my guests were EXTREMELY impressed with the staff and venue. Beth was also very helpful with finding ways to keep the cost down, which was great do to my small budget. I am soooo happy with the way everything came together and I know Herrington on the Bay made that possible! Also I used Sweet Sue's (a preferred vendor for Herrington) as my bakery to make the cake, and I've gotten TONS of good reviews about the cake. So good food (Herrington on the Bay), good drinks (thanks to Jimmy our bartender!) and good music (thanks to our DJ Chris Sheldon) made our wedding wonderful!

They were absolutely perfect. We worked with both Beth and Brittany who were friendly and helpful throughout the entire process, and we wound up having an amazing and stress-free event (Which sounds impossible with weddings, but seriously, working with them eliminated most of the stress I'd expected)We had a Halloween wedding, and while a lot of vendors turned their nose up at the idea, the people at Herrington were delighted and worked with us to make sure the day was perfect, from suggesting black tablecloths with orange napkins, to surprising us on our wedding day with gorgeous jack-o-lanterns decorating our buffet. The food was SOOO good (you have to get the crab dib, OMG, it's the best I've ever had), and all of the waitstaff were super friendly the whole night. Overall, they were a key element to making our wedding totally perfect. :D

This is a beautiful place to get married....the food is fabulous (which is usually not the case at most weddings) and the staff is very professional, flexible, and quick to get back with you on any questions you may have....our wedding was more beautiful than I could have imagined thanks to the Herrington!

My husband and I had our wedding at the Paradise Ballroom at Herrington on the Bay during Memorial Day Weekend 2009 and everything was absolutely perfect! Herrington on the Bay is a beautiful venue right on the water with gorgeous landscaping and breathtaking views of the Chesapeake Bay. What made Herrington such a special, memorable place for our wedding reception was not just its beauty but the competence, dedication, and professionalism of the staff, especially Anna Chaney Willman. In the months leading up to the wedding, we found the staff to be extraordinarily helpful, detail-oriented, full of excellent suggestions, and willing to accommodate our every request. They worked with us to create a customized menu, which we had the opportunity to sample during the tasting reception - a delightful event that takes place several months before the wedding. The food at the reception was outstanding and exactly what we asked for. Everyone commented on the delicious crab dip, which we highly recommend! We were also impressed by how effortless the execution of the event was for us. In the weeks before the wedding, they welcomed our frantic emails with last-minute requests, assuring us that everything would be taken care of - and we were not disappointed on our wedding day. They maintained a strict timeline from the cocktail hour all the way to the last dance, so we were able to enjoy each portion of the evening without feeling that the time was getting away from us. Herrington on the Bay and the wonderful people who work there helped make our wedding day the best day of our lives by allowing us to throw an amazing, memorable party for our family and friends at an incredible venue. We give Herrington on the Bay our highest recommendation and look forward to celebrating anniversaries there in the future!

Herrington made our dream wedding come true! The location is absolutely breathtaking. Everyone couldn't believe they were still in Maryland and whenever I show people our pictures they think we ran off to Hawaii or something. They were very responsive and easy to work with in the planning process and were quite flexible. Everything seemed to go so smooth on our wedding day. They directed everyone to the ceremony site and shuttled them to and from the reception site on a tram. They had food and drinks waiting for at the ceremony site while we were taking pictures. The food was amazing! We had so many compliments on how delicious everything was. I highly recommend Herrington!!!!
