Michael created my dream wedding cake! I met him at a bridal show at The Great Room in Savage, MD (where I ended up having my reception) and the moment I tasted his chocolate cake, I knew he was the one. He also had this beautiful cake on display that I ended up designing my cake after. I loved everything about the cake and working with him to design it. The thing that sets him apart from other cake companies is that it is a family run business and I love that wholesome feeling. Also in a year on my anniversary, he will send us our anniversary cake (of the chocolate of course) so we dont have to eat one that was frozen for a year. Michael also helped me create the perfect grooms cake (and at an afforadable price!). It was carrot cake designed with a Jets logo with pictures of our dog on the outside. I will come back and post pictures when we get the professional ones back from our photographer!!!Thank you Michael and I highly recommend you (Artistic Desserts) to any brides looking for the cake of their dreams!!

Chef Michael knows what he is doing!! When we went out to Westminster to try his cake selections, both myself and my HUSBAND fell in love...and both of our plates were clean! He was very flexible to work with; I wanted to incorporate Funfetti cake into some layers of our wedding cake since its my favorite and even though it is not a flavor he normally does, he experimented and made it work out wonderfully! We ended up doing that mixed with layers of Red Velvet Cake and overall got rave reviews. Thank you Chef Michael! We loved everything about the cake!!

So delicious! Was a great experience. He has some amazing cakes and is willing to create anything you want. He will also take any idea you have, or dont realize you have, and make it a reality.

We got our wedding cake through Artistic Desserts, and had a wonderful experience doing so. Of course tasting the different types of cake was fun, but designing our cake was also enjoyable. On our wedding day, the cake was beautiful and delicious!

Our cake was beautiful and delicious! We had our tasting at his home and the coffee and all the cake flavors were excellent, but the best is the Italian Cream! We had some left over so we continued to eat it for a couple of days and it seems to just get better. There was no way we were smashing this cake in each other's faces, that would have been a waste of deliciousness!

Mike's cakes are delicious and absolutely beautiful. He was INCREDIBLY responsive, and was just an overall pleasure to work with. The cake was so delicious that I even had guests asking if they could take cake with them to go.

Artistic Desserts was a pleasure to work with and made a delicious cake that our guests raved about (and one later told us, had dreams about). I worked for a pastry chef (who made wedding cakes) and in professional kitchens (on their dessert station) so I would say that I am about the pickiest person I know when it came to our wedding cake. My husband has a gluten allergy and so we went with Michael’s fabulous chocolate gluten free cake. Most of our guests (including the one who dreamed about it) could eat gluten but they ate our cake like there was no tomorrow because it was a delicious moist chocolate cake with fabulous ganache filling and the butter cream frosting was just right – not at all greasy. It was also beautifully decorated (the icing matched the color samples perfectly) and very affordable. Michael has a lovely style and does not pressure you to buy more cake then you need, or do crazy things to make your cake expensive. Before we signed on with him, he provided us with a lovely free tasting and trial of all the toppings. He also delivered ours himself and coordinated with our florist to get the flowers on top of the cake and around the cake just right. That made one fewer thing we had to deal with. All in all, he was fabulous to work with and the cake couldn’t have been more perfect.

Michael from Artistic Desserts was a pleasure to work with! We gave him a photo of a cake we wanted and he made it look beautiful, with pinwheels coming down the cake, and a beautiful logo just exactly what we wanted! It tasted delicious as well, all of our guests loved it! I would recommend him to any bride!

My cake was absolutely beautiful!! It was so hard to choose the flavors of the cake because all of them tasted very good. They even made a small personal cake for my flower girl, for a reasonable price, being that it was her 3rd birthday the day of my wedding!! I had many compliments from my guests on how good the cake was!!

Michael is wonderful. He has so many flavors, and they were all delicious. It was hard to choose! We did half of the cake 1 flavor, and the other half another completely different flavor. One was chocolate with peanut butter cup frosting on the inside, and the other half was lemon with swiss raspberry marmalade. Both were delicious! He also made us a Vegan groom's cake which was amazing.

Mike did an exceptional job on both our wedding and groom cake. I appreciated his web-based planning meeting, which was convienient for my hectic schedule considering I had no wedding planner, and was working two-jobs. Nonetheless, every detail was captured and my guests still gushing over how beautiful my cake was. Also, I may be the first bride in history to have NO CAKE LEFTOVER due to extreme deliciousness LOL

Our experience with Michael, the chef/owner of Artistic Desserts was outstanding. He responded promptly to our questions/concerns. At our initial meeting Michael provided a complimentary cake tasting with a variety of flavors and tea. He showed us pictures of his previous work and offered various suggestions. I had brought a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like; it was four tiers, with fondant, and accented with red ribbon. I was a little hesitant about the ribbon, thinking it wouldn't turn out as nice as in the picture, but when I saw the cake the day of the wedding I was blown away, it turned out more beautiful than the cake in the picture. We went with a four tier cake, each layer a different flavor and absolutely delicious! Michael also worked with my florist on the wedding day to pick the perfect placement of red roses on the cake. Michael, was also flexible with us with the pricing. Overall, I would highly recommend Artistic Desserts to all the brides out there!!

Michael was wonderful. He hand-sketched our cake design the very day we met with him. He had our cake tasting in his beautiful home on fine china with soft music in the background and slide show of different cake ideas playing. His cake was not only beautiful but totally delicious! The flavor combos were so good!!! Definitely the best of the best!

We met with Michael Markwitz at his home to go over our wedding cake selections. We were served full-sized slices of his incredibly delicious moist cakes in his dining room, on Lenox china with a freshly brewed pot of coffee. HUGE slices of delicious cake - so you can taste each one several times as you're narrowing down what you want. He combines whatever filling you want with whatever kind of cake you want, so again - big slices of fresh delicious cake really help when you're mixing stuff up to make an educated decision. He helped us select the number of tiers we wanted and even suggested keeping the cake shorter and offered to make a couple of cakes on the side to save money. Not sheet cakes, the same awesome round cakes with fabulous fillings. He gave us tons of detail on how to cut and serve the cake and drew me a little diagram as well (there is an art to cutting a huge wedding cake without butchering it and I'm grateful he took the time to explain. We has friends helping with the catering and needed the tutorial!) We have three tiers and he doesn't charge any extra if we wanted to do all three tiers with different cake flavors and fillings! Neat! The Cakes: Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting - the cake and icing were dense and delicious without the cloying sugary sweetness or unsweetened butter greasiness of a lot of other bakeries' cakes and icings. His icing was PERFECT. There was an italian cream cake with a layer of Swiss imported seedless raspberry marmalade and a second layer of custard creamy goodness.Dense and delicious lemon cake with raspberry cream - we went with this one, and switched out one of the raspberry cream filling layers with raspberry marmalade. (Ah the joys of custom choices from a small business that values you!!) Again, not too sweet, not TOO dense - just right. The chocolate - holy goodness. There was some kind of incredible ganache filling in there that was to die for. We ended up getting 2 extra side cakes it was THAT good. He made another cake with crushed peanut butter cups in the filling - this was my fiance's fave and it was delicious as well. Believe it or not, I am not a huge fan of cake overall, but you can't NOT love this guy's cakes. They are fabulous and they are beautifully decorated. He spent well over an hour with us at 7:00pm on a weeknight to accommodate our work schedules. He scrolled through tons of pictures of cakes he had decorated so we could see some examples and he made some great recommendations. He let us try samples of fondant even though the cake we were selecting was iced with buttercream, just because he wanted to share it. It was light and soft and tasted almost like marshmallow. It tasted so much better than any fondant I have had before - he makes his own and it is delicious. When I went off on a tangent after seeing a super-fancy cake he made for another wedding, he brought me back to my original vision for a simple, homemade-looking, classic wedding cake, even though the other option that caught my fancy would have cost a significant amount of money and truly would have been an impulse-buy. The man is a professional.I love independent businesses. What a drastic difference between a tasting in the home of someone who loves what they do and an impersonal tasting at a busy bakery that hardly cares and expects a healthy deposit in advance before they do you the huge favor of serving you silver-dollar sized stale morsels of cake. Artistic Desserts was a totally different experience - for such a special day, you deserve the personal treatment Michael gives you. He was an absolute joy to work with. He came early, set up the dessert table on the stands that I selected and it looked so beautiful I almost cried! It was exactly what I asked for. I highly, highly recommend Michael and his wonderful cakes. We live far away and drove an hour to get to our tasting and it was so worth it. He is very friendly, very knowledgeable and very interested in making sure you get exactly what you want for a fair price. It was a great experience and a fabulous reminder of why I love shopping small businesses most of all. He really is an artist and I got exactly what I wanted on my wedding day!

I cannot say enough great things about Artistic Desserts and Mike! Mike was so flexible with us and made the whole process smooth and easy. He knew the exact look we were going for. The cake itself was AMAZING and exceeded our expectations. All of our wedding guests raved about the look and flavors and were even asking for pieces "to go". We chose fondant icing (even though I am not a fan) and that even tasted wonderful! You will not be disappointed with Mike and Artistic Desserts!!

I didn't work with them directly but through Simply Elegant Catering. However, the cake was both beautiful and delicious! I requested a color of trim on the icing to match my colors, which they did no problem. The design was flawless and gorgeous. And the flavors - wow! I had both Red Velvet and Italian Cream with Reese's Peanut Butter Cup icing. And all I can say is I wish I had gotten a bigger cake so there would have been even more to take home!! YUM!
